Ajahn Brahmali who translated the Vinaya Pitika from Pali to English conveys a message about the Sutta Print ANZ project.
“The word of the Buddha is the foundation of all Buddhism and by far the most important expression of the Dhamma. It is the only Buddhist literature that all Buddhists agree fully expresses the deep insights into human nature that Buddhism is known for. From a Buddhist point of view, it is the most important literature in recorded human history. Any serious Buddhist would therefore do well to prioritise the study of these texts.
These teachings are now available in a brand new and accessible translation. The purpose of these translations is to render the original Pali as faithfully as possible into English, while keeping the language simple and direct. Moreover, these translations have no copyright restrictions, making them easily reproducible and a basis for new translation efforts. We hope that these books will encourage more people to read and study early Buddhist teachings. We also hope that these texts will serve as a foundation and inspiration for new and improved translations in the future. Happy reading!”
