Sutta Print Project — my heartfelt gratitude to both Ajahns who translated. Ajahn Sujato and Ajahn Brahmali, have generously gifted us such joyful, easy-to-read Sutta Pitika and Vinaya Pitika.
I am having so much joy sharing the readings — to anyone, at any occasion, at any pages, in all the suttas. For example, I carried two volumes for three weeks with me; they just popped right into my bag. I lent one of the books to a young man working at the entrance of the art exhibition at NTI. Of course I told him about how the book came about. Later, when I went back, he still had the sutta open— it was sitting in his hand; he was reading it.
While waiting for our lunch orders to arrive at a café, I asked the three young school-aged girls to read a small segment each from the Linked Discourses. It was so much joy to hear — take the opportunity and open the book.
At the picnic afterwards, when we had sat down, I passed the sutta around to share the reading by the lake in Newcastle with friends. We had so much joy, discussing the bravery, the achievement that the senior nuns expressed back then, 2,600 years ago.
So I would like to express my gratitude, deeply, to the suttas — the way they can be shared with all ages, at all occasions, rather than having them sitting on the bookshelves at home or in the locked-up cupboards at the temples — it was like that in Laos, where I come from. These easy-to-read suttas, translated in English — ah, such a blessing to myself, and to my friends, and to the kids at schools where I volunteer.
And now these Sutta and Vinaya modern English translations are making their way to Australia and New Zealand. Thank you, Sutta Print ANZ project — well done!
